Description:

This position may perform any of the functional accounting responsibilities supported by the SBS (Sanofi Business Services) NA (North America) Finance Shared Services Organization related to Capital and Fixed Assets Accounting and Reporting. Various day-to-day accounting tasks include booking journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and analyzing financial data for all North American legal entities. The position will be heavily involved in the month end close and reporting process.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the various day-to-day accounting tasks including but not limited to process capitalization requests, make asset movements, conduct open project review to track project status, coordinate physical inventory, run settlement, depreciation, ad hoc requests from various departments such as Controlling, Custom Compliance and Tax, etc.

Responsible for the North America closing process for specified legal entities by performing tasks required to effectively close the books (process sub-ledger transactions to record capitalization and assets movements, book journal entries, perform reconciliation and account analyses, conduct open CIP project reviews with internal customers, coordinate annual physical inventory counts, perform monthly settlements, run depreciation, investigate difference and resolve the discrepancies, communicate and troubleshoot issues with various finance teams in North America etc.).

• Must work closely with the SBS NA Finance Services organization to comply with Corporate accounting guidelines and apply any changes to the processes

• Indirectly manage three team members by reviewing and approving journal entries, PP&E reconciliations, and troubleshooting technical and accounting reporting issues as they arise

• Assist and coordinate in the complete process of preparing and reporting actual financial results accurately and timely

• Work directly with Senior Manager and Management for providing updates on department activities

• Be key lead with departmental activities such as government reporting, insurance renewal, Tax audit, internal & external audit, SOX testing, KPI tracking, participate & lead in continuous improvement projects (ex. Robotics), and quarterly ad-hoc reports (ex. Capex spend, PP&E details, alternative information schedules)

• Supports external and internal audit requests and ensures team’s compliance with all Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements for assigned areas

• Accountable for delivering service and meeting objectives defined in the SBS Service Level Agreements for all North America businesses

• Partners with the business units to continuously improve the services, accuracy and timing of the reporting function

• Maintains and cultivates strategic partnerships with North America controlling and management teams to ensure integration and implementation of efficient process and policies

Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited four-year college or university is required. CPA is preferred. A minimum of three years of professional experience in public accounting is required. Previous experience working within a Pharmaceutical environment is preferred. Strong working knowledge with MS Excel is required. Experience with SAP modules, and any prior exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI) is preferred. Selected candidate will possess excellent written and verbal, proactive, willing to challenge the status quo, ability to problem solve and investigate issues independently and as a team, and to effectively collaborate with other cross-functional teams. The position demands a considerable amount of service orientation, built around the concept of internal customers; a tolerance for ambiguity and willingness to accept change as part of overall process; and a willingness to accept and address resistance to change and opinions of others. Position may require up to 20% overall travel.
