Manager HVAC & Utilities

The Manager HVAC & Utilities lead will be well versed in working with multi-disciplined engineers on capital project teams, as well as other project related cross-functional teams with representatives from various departments throughout the organization. This individual will lead the design engineering in the HVAC utility areas ensuring B79/ B80 project deliverables are completed on time. When required, this person will provide assistance to the team of engineers in the development of URS, equipment and component specification, engineering design, FAT and SAT planning, initial start-up, commissioning and qualification of HVAC/BAS and utility systems.

The Manager – HVAC & Utilities is responsible for but not limited to the following:

• Provide engineering and resource support to design team in HVAC/BAS and utility systems including scope definition, design and specification review, and energy conservation.

• Balance technology, cost and maintainability in determining and applying solutions to projects. This position will function together with the Project Manager as the primary interface with outside engineering consulting firms on mechanical design issues and interpretation of Owner program and project requirements

• Provide recommendations on Code compliance, equipment selection, value engineering, construction implementation and commissioning, interface with construction, and cGMP Validation of mechanical systems.

• Provide support, advice and guidance to the Project Team to produce projects that meet the program requirements on time and within budget

• Work with Site Engineering to develop and manage the Engineering Standards and be a project liaison for new projects.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and good documentation practices are followed to track all work and make data analysis efficient.

• Support a strong Maintenance Safety Culture that encourages taking the right amount of time to perform each task safely.

Basic Qualifications:

Education / Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineer from an accredited University. A Masters Degree in a relevant subject is preferred. Minimum 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Experience working with local contractors and/or engineering consultants is a positive

A PE license in a relevant subject is preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to actively, and cooperatively work with cross functional teams.
